like his playground as he lives on his own. He is not like other adolescents though. He
alienates himself from the rest of the world, has a sincere goal of protecting children from

Unlike most teens, he does not like anything. He constantly pushes away the ones he cares about, except for Phoebe. Children are the one thing Holden truly cares about and wants to protect. He has plans to protect them from adulthood. He believes the adult world is corrupt and phony. This is the reason he does not want to grow up. These are a few of the reasons Holden is an abnormal teenager.
